Why 3D print a structure on your property?
There are many reasons why you may be interested in having a laneway house or garden suite:
- For visiting friends & family
- An extra source of income and increasing your property value
- Use as a studio or remote office
The question then becomes whether to use conventional construction or go with 3D-printed concrete.
Here are the reasons why 3D-printed concrete is the better choice:
- Lower cost (the walls cost approximately 2/3 of conventional)
- Faster build time (once slab/footings are done, walls take less than a week)
- Quiet (experience the quietness of insulated concrete)
- Lower carbon footprint (we are working with graphene-enhanced concrete)
- Rot-proof (concrete doesn’t rot)
- Rodent-proof (insects & vermin don’t eat concrete)
- Fire-proof (concrete does not burn!)
- Flood proof (flooding will not damage the walls)
- Design freedom (eg: curved walls have no extra cost – see images below)
Here is an example of a 3D-printed house done with one set-up of the machine:
Interior dimensions 13’ x 28’ = 364 sq.ft. on main floor, plus up to 180 sq.ft. upstairs or loft.
Below are examples of 3D-printed houses done with two setups of the machine. Typically 700 to 900 sq.ft. on main floor plus 350 to 450 sq.ft. upstairs
StrongPrint3D Construction has experience making buildings using 3D-printed concrete, and here are two examples: a 10’ x 20’ farm stand and the start of a 15’ x 30’ house.
